Hi, as most of you know since you've come here, i'm Dave. I'm currently a student at the University of Akron majoring in Graphic Design and Photography, although at this point my future as a Photography major is questionable. I may become a Photography minor instead due to the costs.

I was born January 5th, 1987 in Euclid, OH in a tiny house from where my family had built a house in Twinsburg, OH where I lived until I graduated High School. I've always had a fascination with technology and art as far as I can remember, from drawing when I was a little kid to disassembling my fathers Canon SLR when I was 5. I actually got a hold of my first camera what I was about 10, someone had to develop the film for me, but I was captivated by catching life as still as it could be. The flatness of the image also brought me to realize the way we view things; graphically. From then on doodling would only become more and more than just scribbles of lines and the next thing you know, i'm designing webpages from scratch at 12 years old and rendering my own graphics in programs such as Paint Shop Pro, and 3D Studio Max. From then even games weren't left alone, I would create car schemes which could be loaded on any players computer and viewed, detail is key in games like that, that's where I excelled in pleasing the many players wanting more and more different schemes to choose from. Even to this day involvement with games and the graphic elements aren't left alone. Beside the love for typography and photography lie my other hobbies which get equal attention.
Biggest of which is Autocrossing, i'm a huge motorsports fan, and i'll watch almost anything with an engine. The automotive industry has taken and given alot to the world in terms of thinking and how we live life, to be able to drive yourself yet alone controlling the car on the limit intrques me. Motorsports is the pinnacle of this, that's why i'm involved and so are many. Tennis! Cannot forget my favorite sport, from the Grand Slams all over the world to the local ones like Cincinatti, I'll watch tennis, play tennis for hours at a time even all day if I could. I just don't like being couped up in the same place for a very long time, tennis like autocross demands concentration to get it right, or you'll miss it.

I'd like to spare this space to thank everyone who has helped me get this far so far in life. Thanks.

My views on graphic design and photography

My inspiration toward the graphic arts field is quite simple. Typography has taken me over, everything people see, understand, follow is words these days. They evoke emotion, intuition, and anything else you can imagine. Creating a strong platform forwhich people can justify remembering is what I strive for in graphic design. Secondary elements are always important as well, they may help magnify the importance and give the viewer direction. As I continue my studies and implement them on this site and all the work i've done so far, I hope to exceed even my own expectations i've set for myself in graphic design.

Photography on the other hand started from my interest in technology. I've always loved photography, days i'd sit in class across the photography labs in Folk hall just made me wish I was in there trying to make sense of what that person was trying to capture. To me this is the other side of the spectrum from graphic design, though I know they can both be used effecitvely together I see photography as a way of capturing the essence and vitality of the subject matter, as with my projects offer the sheer simplicity that the viewer understands, and sometimes even they won't understand. That's enjoy about photogaphy the different interpretations.

Graphic Design Experience:
First ever design; 1999 local gas station sign contest - 'Dawgwoods'
This was my first ever design, I was a freshman at Twinsburg High School when our class was selected to do a design contest for the local gas station chain, which is now defunct 'Dawgwoods'. With my previous experience with Paintshop Pro (don't laugh) I whipped up a quick Impact skewed thrashing of a logo which inevitably was selected and improved upon, along with handing me the prize money of $400 dollars. Unfortunately the gas station chain never took off and I never got a chance to get a photograph of the finished logo. I will re-create one day to put in my archives.

Twinsburg School District; 2005 - Individual School Webpages
Along with a fellow classmate Ted Meltok, we had collaborated on designing the Twinsburg High School's webpages. Originall intended for a state wide High School Web Site Design competition, We collaborated and extended our ideas to the computers and designed the High School site which definately needed re-vamping. Upon completion and judging, the district decided it would be a good idea to unify the many schools by creating the other webpages.
This was my first taste in organizing such a system to include communication to staff and important school dates on top of other interactive features and information.

Fuji Oishii Japanese Restaurant; 2007 - Logo, Website, Menu's, Business Card
I had the opportunity to work for my father in establishing a mark for his new restaurant, Fuji Oishii. It was enjoyable working with my father in creating a logo which reflects what he wants to acheieve as a restaurant owner. I designed the webpage, menu's, business card, and logo to be presentable to customers in a way that will interest them in the quality of service.

Northern Ohio Racing Association; 2008 - Website/Webmaster, Club Photographer, Flyers, Business Card, etc.
Currently i'm working jointly with this knit club which is my hobby, i'm more than happy to expend my experience with them. I arrived as merely an participant but now as an officer i've taken on duties such as being the club photographer as well as being the webmaster and graphic artist of the club. This includes creating flyers and visually catching advertisements to entice auto enthusiasts to come and try out a safe-cost effective alternative to the world of high-cost track day motorsports.
