I picked up a great little mobile typewriter the other week, being swamped with work i’ve only just now been able to play with it. It’s a Brother Charger 11 Correction, with the ink roller still in it! So I was playing around with it. This is great bit of machinery! I can’t believe we take for granted our keyboards on our $1500 laptops.

It’s been out for a few days now, perhaps you’ve seen it. If not here is my own entry on this wonderful, very nicely made video questionnaire.

I’m not going to spoil it for you, but I’ll tell you my font was Archer Hairline.

Have a go:

Very curious reading I found today in the twitter feed from Erik Spiekermann about Font hinting written by Richard Fink. In short, readability is all about how we perceive a character in a grid of LCD’s. Font hinting is the rendering of the outlines and features of a letter on your screen you view right now and understanding them quickly. This reading gives a useful insight into the differences between TTF, OTF, and CFF in the realm of digital readability.

Suggu, Alphabet Mashup between Hangul and Roman Alphabet.

I ran across this on Twitter from ‘Dwell’, it’s an interesting concept. It combines both phonetic alphabets of Hangul and Roman making a quite interesting result.

Definitely check it out if you have the chance.

Who Shot the Serif? Typograpy Terms | i love typography, the typography and fonts blog.
I found this great article on how Serif’s just aren’t being handled in the same respect as they used to. Serif font’s have fallen out of mainstream in terms of what we see on the internet, and print (beside books and magazines). This article I found may be from 2 years ago, but it’s a great resource into what basics there are.
