Write The Future on Vimeo

via Write The Future on Vimeo.

A great short 3 minute video that advertises what it is like to change the future, based on some football. Football as you know is the world’s sport, it is known between so many cultures and the mere mention of it brings smiles.

Nike has taken this concept and took it in a little different direction, showcasing how star players can change events in the world. Good vid!

UP THERE on Vimeo — Painting of ads.

A great documentary about the dying art of painting advertisements on NY Buildings. The importance of hand painted advertisements, to me is similar to that of the letterpress. There just isn’t a better way sometimes. I also do enjoy the filming method in which this was done.

Ingenious bit of advertising, using what we take for granted as an invisible force.

Great one.

YouTube – Le tour du monde en 80 secondes

An interesting stop-motion photography movie by Romain Pergeaux & Alex Profit. Creating a video which takes you around the world in 80 seconds. Using a simple Sony camera with built in GPS, this video does what it take normally 5 days to do.

lamlux.net — Diana Camera Test!

Posted: May 4th, 2010 | Author: Dave | Filed under: Photography | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

I’ve been playing with this little toy camera i’ve acquired. It apparently has quite a following for its “Lomographic” qualities. It’s quite an interesting piece, I rigged it to use 35mm film and set to it.

Most of the shots are through the University of Akron, but a few are from Cuyahoga Falls.

It lended itself to great flaring, leaks, and of course double, triple and sometimes quadruple exposures.

Well i’ll leave you to look at the photos i’ve posted graciously on my sister site; lamlux.net.

The Myth of Inspiration?

Here’s an interesting read about the ever-changing internet as a source of what we call ‘inspiration’. It takes what we think about when we see these sorts of blogs and websites.

Typing was never so interesting, and analogue.

I picked up a great little mobile typewriter the other week, being swamped with work i’ve only just now been able to play with it. It’s a Brother Charger 11 Correction, with the ink roller still in it! So I was playing around with it. This is great bit of machinery! I can’t believe we take for granted our keyboards on our $1500 laptops.

What to Do When Your Artwork is Used Without Your Permission « Escape From Illustration Island – Illustration Resources and Community

An interesting site I ran across through ‘Illustration Mundo’. If you’re an artist and notice someone blatantly using your work, here’s a link that can set you on the right way to stop them.

Copyright laws are crucial to know for any person in any of the creatives fields, to ignore them simply would mean that you will commit it sooner than later.

60 Remarkable Examples of Graffiti Art (RT SmashingMag)

60 Remarkable Examples of Graffiti Art | Fotos, Kunst, Listen | Dr. Web Magazin.

On my way to class today I saw the graffiti work of urban Akron. It said ‘DIES’, now i’m not that familiar with gang related symbols and signs, but there were quite a few I notice around Akron. This got me going, and I ran across this today, and thought to myself, Wow look what good graffiti can do. Not only can it shape and transform space we see it in, but the emotion it evokes in us.

Too bad Akron can’t be more good graffiti, and not ones that just mark territory.

There’s some inspiring works of art in there, perhaps useful for those producing grunge/illustrative projects.
